So much for summer, she says hopefully. It now feels like fall in Montreal, which I love. And RIGHT NOW, an electrical storm is doing its thing. I totally love them. Hope the house next door is finally lightning safe so it does not get hit for the third. or is it fourth... After last September's hit, they took an, ungrounded, metal fence off the roof!! Duhhhh. The damage was so bad the poor young family did not move back in until spring.

I was wondering why, after a week of dragging my tail, I felt great this morning. This storm! The air is different! The rain has started. It sounds lovely. It was raining this morning and I sent R off to the Laurentians to put up a fence, with a change of clothes. Then I went to Meeting, gave a friend a ride, went shopping in clear weather, came home after a wonderful excursion and now, the real rain has begun.

Fresh apples from southern Quebec, wonderful strawberries from near Quebec City, a Heavy Metal Cleansing regime for R because the fellow at the supplement store actually sounded sensible. Said to eat lots of soluble fiber with it - hence the apples, strawberries, oats. I'll make some apple crisp with a little honey and raisins, cinnamon - good for blood sugar.      And return to the winter regime of a cut up warmed in microwave apple each morning. Checked www for a list.

While dragging my tail, I have not done much more than keep up with emails and send a few - personal and animal activist ones - and posting encouragements and other info on raccoon sites. Thinking is leading to ideas for info to go on SPCA website - list is begun, an article for a Quaker journal on discussion/consideration - the right use of; how to be more politically active, generally.

My lack of a "permanent resident card" started to weigh heavily when I could not get a Quebec health card without it. I wanted to ride a bike but if I fell and injured myself... But the application form is impossible for me as my circumstances do not fit at all. Then I got a notice that I need a medical exam to renew my driver's license. Then I realized I am paying for Revenue Quebec for health care but have no access. Finally, a notice came that our member of Parliament was having an open house. I went by yesterday and talked with his "case manager" who gave me his card and said call on Monday. He gave me HOPE, one of the greatest things. It will be a terrific weight off me to get that solved. HOPE! I will offer some volunteer time to the office.

Since Friday a week when I came home after the cafe to be supportive, I have not gone to country except we both made it to the cafe Friday and then came back to city. R is working 12 to 15 hours a day and even though he often does not get home between 9 am, or earlier, and 10 pm or later, it gives him a sense of being supported to know I am here - to bow beat him into taking a bath to get all the crud/toxins off his body before bed, to take his supplements, to eat some decent food. Otherwise, he gets so focussed on work, he drops off on a sofa, in his truck, in all his clothes and begins again when he wakens, and eats whatever is handy.

The assault case will be in Court on 6 September. I hope it does not re-trigger the PTSD which finally seems to be healing.

Now to decimate the 164 emails ....
