Thread Name: Valdy-songs and the man
Subject: RE: Valdy-songs and the man
Over the years I have had the opportunity to meet with and talk with and play with and sing with that Canadian treasure we call 'Valdy'. If you look up the word 'gentleman' it will be his picture which defines it.
I was playing in Central Florida with some local, professional folk musicians. I was floored when they confessed that they had NEVER heard of Valdy. Rather than grab one of the ubiquitous firearms down there and 'vent my spleen', I talked about him and played three or four of his songs for them. To their credit, they had heard of (some) of the songs.
Thanks, Valdy for who you are and the music you have given us.
And, YES, I know that Valdy has a temper. I saw him confess that fact on some long-ago talk show when he described the encounter between his broken hand and his oak desk.   :o)
