Chantey Lass your comment reminded me of a neighbour when i was a child he didnt drink often but when he did that was how he made his way home 6 steps forward two steps back a little waltz then back on track but he always made it home.

Thinking of you and yours frug wrote this bit of doggerel

Haul the oar

Keep hauling at your oar me lads
Keep hauling at the oar
For you never know which pull it is
Will get us safe to shore.

We cannot see the strand me lads
When the fog is all around
We just have to keep pulling
Till we reach solid ground.

Tomorrow's just a dream me lads
And yesterday's long gone
So haul upon the oars me lads
And keep on moving on.

By the second or the minute
By the hour or by the day
Keep going to the quayside
My lads just haul away.

And when we've reached the harbour
And the joys of life hold sway
We'll smile and remember how we made it
Because we hauled away.
