Well it's still me, talking to myself, but I don't like to see the thread drop off the page. Hopefully everyone is either having such a great time with family or so busy with decluttering that they're not sharing.

I fixed a pleasant dinner, including pulling one of my very large home-grown Irish potatoes out of the bin to cut up and fry. That will last me about three meals. I love the idea of growing my own and having them keep so nicely. I know people around the world do this, but it's new to me. My next harvest, sweet potatoes, will have to "cure" for a week or two, drying out in a fairly humid setting (according to the web sites I looked at) and then can go in a bin. Last year I had four Irish potato plants; next year I can probably use my own seed potatoes and I'll grow twice that number. I've been reading about how to start my own sweet potato slips from this year's crop, so there is quite a continuity as you learn how to grow, preserve, and sprout or seed the next crop from what you save.

I've cleared out more of the stuff in my sun room. I think my friend may not have to store stuff here, but just the same, it's time to work on that room. And if he has to come spend a few days, I want it to be an inviting space. My garage is looking a lot better also.

Busy week coming up. Might be cause for a blue funk - my boss of the last 15 years is leaving the library to go back to teaching. He was simply the best boss in the world so this is a huge shift for all of us, and I was one who reported directly to him. The person appointed in the interim is also good, I have no fears there, but I'll miss my old boss terribly since he's also one of my best friends. So it may be a rough week.
