Kat, he isn't leaving anywhere except work in the library. All along he has taught at least one class as semester in the evening, and taught an archive class he'll continue with in the library. He's taking a year sabbatical the returning to teach history and continue with his writing and such. Not losing touch at all, but just not having this great guy right there in the library all of the time.

Moonglow picked up her new glasses today - I finally talked her into getting a new frame. I think she'd put new lenses in the old frames two more times after she got them new, and they were a bit wobbly. She's running around a bit down here, I'll get one more hug in before she heads back up to her house. We're all running errands these days and this week is just packed full of the increments that add up to big jobs getting finished.

Penny, when I was selling my father's house as I finished his estate I had 2 offers, one from a woman who grew up at that beach a few houses up and one from a realtor who wanted it as an investment to rent out. He made his bid contingent that he would top any other bid by $1,000 going up to $25,000 above what he originally bid. I accepted the woman's bid and got a call one day from someone at the real estate office who was there to settle disputes. The bidding realtor felt that the folks handling my sale might have convinced me to ignore his bid so they could collect a larger fee. I explained to the realtor intermediary that I understood perfectly well who had what listed but frankly when dividing his $1000 four ways when the estate was settled it wasn't worth it to me to upset the neighbors who had lived near dad for decades. They knew and liked the young woman and would prefer someone to live there, not have it become rental property. It was just that simple. You don't throw the neighbors under the bus when you sell your property if you can avoid it.
