I used to play with an orchestra that had a repertoire of fifty or sixty tunes.
But every rehearsal and every performance was done from the written score.
Ten years later, I could not even recall what keys I played them in or how the tunes went.
Unless I look at the books, then my fingers still know the tunes.
Funny thing, memory.
