I 2nd Ed's post. I have a Makita battery for my older cordless drill/driver that is 10+ years old and still charges fine.

I bought a 'bargain' import set of stuff built around another battery... and the batteries not only wear out, but discharge when not being used. I have to do some computing about what to do when they totally wear out.
