Thread Name: Lyr Req: The Fields of Saskatchewan (Tip Splinter)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Fields of Saskatchewan
Thanks Mick, hope guest Uwe comes back.
The video is interesting in that it is different from the radio recording I taped. The video says it was live from Toronto so maybe Kieran Wade was nervous or forgot how he had recorded it. For example, verse two on the video he repeats twice, but on the recording I heard and taped is as follows.

When your last in line for the family farm
Your choices ain't that many.
To leave behind the life you've known
And head out on your own.
Yeah! but we were young, we didn't care
And we saved up every penny.
Headed out to Canada and a place to call our own.

CHORUS
"When the ice and snow seems to go on forever.
Makes me think that maybe we should quit and go back home.
But then spring time comes around again,
And chance of better weather.
Think we'll try one more year,
To make it on our own.

The third verse is then " We left Ireland 7 years ago ......."

4th verse is: "When you fall behind....."

The last verse is:

" Now the wheat fields of Saskatchewan lie golden in the sunshine.
Summer breeze has pushed the clouds across the prairie skies.
But my memory lies where Irish skies lie in eternal (?) springtime.
Where simpler times for simpler minds kept promises for life".

CHORUS
