Since I switched to Windows 7, I haven't been able to get Audacity to record the sound output from my computer. I think that's some effort of Microsoft to prevent me from bootlegging from YouTube and online music services. Oh, well....I suppose that was mostly what I might have done with it.

I just finished a recording project that I did with my Zoom Handy H2 recorder, edited with Audacity. It worked very well. My son has Mac-based recording software that's a huge step beyond Garage Band, and it is lots better than Audacity. It costs a bundle, though; and Audacity is free.
