Thread Name: Whitby Folk Festival
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Festival
Both of my sons now in their thirties were brought up with Whitby Festival as one of their annual holidays and though I wouldn't describe them as hard and fast folkies (most of the time they were into heavy metal)they thoroughly entered into the spirit of the festival, such that even though they now live in London with high-power jobs it takes a great deal to cause them to miss their annual pilgrimage. Okay a lot of this is to do with Whitby itself which is a wonderful place to be, and part of it was their involvement in the fringe activities, but they also have totally fond memories of Malcolm, and the festival wouldn't have been anywhere as good without his stewardship.

This doesn't take anything away from the team he had working for him, and indeed the current team who are doing their best to maintain a similar ethos.
