Just to reiterate this song was writtenby Robert Tannahill who was born in Paisley 1774 and died in 1810, of a weaving family and was a contemporary of Robert Burns. At present they are 2 CD's containg Tannahill's poems. Despite what some people think, Dougie Maclean did not write all the stuff that he recorded.
PS Scotland has produced many writers of song not only Dougie Maclean,but Archie Fisher and the late Lionel Macleland, to name but two.
