Mudcat has always been a fairly gentle, tolerant community.

Keith A: you are not conforming to our standards. You don't have any "right" - even if you are an "adult" - to throw your weight about and introduce that sort of language and those sort of attitudes - to what is fundamentally a site devoted to discussions about, or related to - music, specifically folk or blues music. Or things that might, potentially be of interest to people who follow that drum.

Mcgrath: thanks for pointing out explicitly exactly what is wrong with at least some of the people who are currently posting to and defiling the "Slavery..." thread.

I am sure that the person who started the thread is as horrified as I am by the uses to which it is now being put.

Moderators: I've asked in the thread itself, I am begging now: get rid of the slavery thread asap.

bigots know what you think! I am sure those of you who care about either the travellers or those affected by their lifestyle can find a way to debate those issues without the use of violent or abusive language. And if you can't, there's no place for you here...
