I'm in no way a supporter of censorship, but I do have to agree with Fossil.

The problem here is a small group - let's call them, for want of a better name, 'The Usual Suspects' - who take over certain threads and effectively exercise their own form of censorship over what other people may and may not give by way of opinion.

These people are appalling wreckers and, by stinking up the forum the way they do, they deter many others from expressing their views and debating on here for fear of hysterical rants about 'racism', 'sexism', 'bigotry' etc. being unleashed on them.

It's a kind of "I'm a better person than you because I'm not a (insert chosen '-ism' or form of 'bigotry' here), so if you don't agree with me you must be a (insert chosen '-ist' or the word 'bigot' here)" thing. And that does not constitute "discussion".

And it's not just in 'Below The Line' threads, it happens in the 'Music' section too - personal attacks, private feuds carried on in public forum, very private issues exposed, and dirty washing aired for anyone and everyone to see. School playground stuff of the very worst kind

It's a kind of "I-Know-Better-Than-You" attempt at High-Ground-Taking and/or 'Morality-McCarthyism'. It really is Last-Refuge-Of-A-Scoundrel stuff spouted by those utterly possessed by their own dogmas and determined to force those dogmas down everyone else's throats.

I'm all for open and free debate, but this stuff stinks. Some people have a lot of growing up to do.

IMHO, YMMV.
