I don't know who this insane God is whom you are talking about, Bobert, but it sure isn't the God I've read about in a vast number of excellent books from a vast number of spiritual traditions and independent modern viewpoints. It sounds to me like some lunatic thing that some very fearful people made up in their own dire image a long time ago and then foisted upon themselves, imagining that they were "right" about it.

I suppose that such a God would hate everyone....considering it had been born out of fear...and was in the business of judging and condemning its own progeny.

I don't accept the notion of such a God at all, never have, and I wouldn't give my allegiance to such a God even if I thought it existed. If you think, however, that everyone who believes in God does accept the notion of such a God...maybe you are the one living in fear, imagining that your brothers and sisters are as bad as you think they are.

God is not the exclusive preserve and patron of fundamentalists, Republicans, right wing fanatics, homophobes, and other such people who haunt your political anxiety closet.

It is not a simple RIGHT-LEFT dichotomy thing.

Put it another way: Just because some ignorant and violent people have been known to like and wear blue jeans does not mean that all people who like and wear blue jeans are ignorant and violent. Capiche?
