Thread Name: Old Thyme Gospel HearMe Circle?
Subject: RE: Old Thyme Gospel HearMe Circle?
Again, thanks all for suggestions & input. It's beginning to look like a "concert" is where this is evolving towards; I'm a relatively new kid on the block, here, and have limited understanding of the system and protocol - so appreciate all your patient guidance. I'm trying to avoid the stigma of "exclusivity" here, but at the same time sense a need for a certain focus. Most of us know that one of the best ways to strain relationships is to start discussing "religion" or "politics", and there is a reason that many families, employers, and organizations discourage or forbid these themes as topics of conversation. I don't see a lot of inhibition on the part of Mudcatters to pitch right into these or any other potentially controversial topic, and for the most part (with some notable exceptions, as I gather from your postings on this & other threads) 'Catters demonstrate sufficient emotional and intellectual maturity to be able to disagree and debate without compromising their integrity or regard and respect for one another. That phenomenon has not gone unnoticed - or unappreciated - up here in Maine. I'd like to accomidate and facilitate a blessing to as many as possible (I gave up on trying to please everybody a long time ago, and sort of wonder that if I'm not p!$$ing SOMEONE off somewhere, I'm probably being derelict of some moral or spiritual obligation. I just have to be careful, I think, of what kind of people I'm blessing, and what sort I'm irritating. That can be a trick, eh?! Although the "concert" HearMe venue seems appropriate, I don't want anyone feeling excluded because they are not on a select list of "performers"; I like the openness and spontanaity of the regular song-circles, and would hope that any and all - including "drop-ins" who might be inclined to pitch in with a genre-appropriate contribution (WW's offering seems interesting to me), could be free to do so. Does this format seem consistant / compatable with the "concert" venue? "Praise"; I wish that I could be of use to you with your technical issues, but after 3+ years of trying to break into this modern technology (a bit of a stretch for a 19th-Century kinda guy) I'm barely competent to navigate the "web" without getting hurt too badly, and get made a fool of by this contraption daily. No doubt there are computer-Guru 'Catters lurking about who can steer you in the right direction. Let us know when you get re-connected to HearMe so we can proceed. I'm still waiting to hear what day of the week or time (relative to EST?) might work out best for the majority of potential participants. We can be contemplating that while Praise gets her CD drive pried open and her ROM, RAM, and giggabytes all under control.
