I'd suggest perhaps Vivaldi but I always wondered what kind of sick fuck wrote 37 bassoon concertos. Not that I wasn't appreciative because so much American music treats the bassoon as a comic voice so most of the solo pieces are pretty much the same. 10 great pieces would have been adequate.

So how about we honor Salvatore Maranzano? There's a real Italian for you!
