'Bewilderment' is right. I keep going over and over it!I have a map from 1749 that shows the world as it was known at that time. The outlines of Europe and Asia and Africa were fairly well delineated and South America was surprisingly well known.
The North American continent was pretty chancy- it has California, for instance, cut through north and south by the 'Sea of Califoria'.
Alaska and points north is not there. It is marked 'Terra Incognita.' (See, I did come back to your theme, kat)
It occurs to me that the things that are unknown to us (the voids) may be extremely important, and that in time to come may be our very lifeblood.
