Thread Name: Welsh Anthem, phonetic English version
Subject: RE: Welsh Anthem, phonetic English version
I have just discovered lurking on my PC a Word document dated October 2000 with these words alongside the original Welsh ones and the footnote "credited to Swansea poet Nigel Jenkins". Does anyone know of him?

The English version I am familiar with goes:
Whales, whales,
Bloody great fishes are whales
They live in the sea; we eat them for tea
By sprink-a-ling salt on their tails
I have also heard a version which runs something like:
Hail, hail.
If it's white and it bounces, it's hail.
If it runs down the drain, it's sleet or it's rain
If it's white and it bounces, it's hail.
