Sonnet 24/11/00                                CDLXXXVI

And should I hide my feelings, when we meet,
That I do not risk losing your sweet smile?
Should I not offer to rub oil on feet,
Or not be open how I see you, while
You are before me, and inside my dreams?
I value you as muse more than my heart:
I dare not risk your smile with any schemes,
Nor dare I hear desires, to risk my Art.
I balance on a razor edge between
Fear and desire: I fear I may offend
But seek to know all that I might, and see
All future that my muse will let be seen.
Perhaps I must risk all, that I might end
Unknowing, and my heart, to seek muse, free.
