Thread Name: Singing after laryngitis
Subject: Singing after laryngitis
I caught (developed?) laryngitis along with a big package of other respiratory nastiness during our recent sojourn in Ireland. My voice disappeared on Thursday, 6 October. I think I left it on the train from Galway to Dublin.

For two weeks, I had no actual voice at all. Resonance began to return about a week ago. It is now 28 October and I can sort of talk again, but I sound like a teenage boy with a really bad head cold.

I still cannot sing. At all. There's no pain or strain; just a croak. No musical sound. Nada.

I appeal to all you 'Catters with experience of voice box injuries and ailments. Should I be beating on the doc's door demanding a referral to a throat guy now, or can it wait till Christmas?

In short, should I panic now, or may I hesitate?
