Subject: Folk Legacy Turns 50 Concert Pictures
I posted two sets of digital images to my flickr gallery from the Folk Legacy 50th Anniversary Concert at the Sounding Board in West Hartford, Connecticut, USA, on October 29, 2011. The First Set contains the best of the images from the sound check and the first half hour or so of the concert before the power outage. The Second Set contains images of the concert after we lost the electricity. All the posted images are full resolution and are as taken without any cropping, resizing, or editing. I have a particular style for how I prefer to image concerts. I prefer to be as invisible as possible to the performers and the audience. I prefer to image with available light only, no flash, and behind the audience. When we lost power, the performers continued in the dark. The staff provided all the candles they could find. I reset my camera to the highest sensitivity, ISO 6400 and the lens wide open at f3.5. I reset the camera's built-in noise reduction software to the highest level of noise reduction and continued imaging by candlelight. The use of the camera's flash was not an option. The flash would have distracted both the performers and the audience and and would have ruined the ambiance of the concert. Please bear all this in mind when viewing the second set. Even with the noise reduction setting, the images appear grainy, especially in the large sizes. In the small sizes they have an "artsy" feel to them. I hope you enjoy what you view.

Do have a great day,
Duane.
