I first met John in the sixties already knowing of him through the publication of Pittenween Jo in Norman Buchan's 101 Scottish Songs. I met him more recently at New Years Day events organised by Pete Shepheard. He had a wonderful dry humour and despite his ill health of recent years was full of life. He will be remembered and his loss felt for a very long time.
