Something I'd like to add is that this question is one with no easy answer, based on the fact that most stereotypes are exaggerations of the truth and as McGrath of Harlow said earlier on, there will be people who fit part of the stereotype. The problem is the fact that stereotypes are used as a way of identifying a person; this person is X, so they must like Y, for example, and can affect the ways some others see the stereotyped group.
