Much later in life I got to know the Gaylords: Ron Fredianelli and Burt Bonaldi. They were back in Detroit, their hometown, and were doing their first stage play, Neil Simon's "The Sunshine Boys," about an old vaudeville duo who had broken up years before but were getting back together for a TV comedy special. The real-life Gaylords had never broken up and had been together longer than the play's fictional performers. Fredianelli died a few years later; Bonaldi is still alive.
