I guess that the only other point is, if one is playing a 1st string melody note up at say 10th fret, any following lower note would probably need to be on one of the other strings within 4 frets away for comfort rather than opting for an open string.
I'm not sure but I think that might be possible. When I was playing with a double ocarina tab, I found there was one note that could be played on either chamber and opted to keep with the range already in use (see the c note here) so I know that saving notes played is possible. Anything involving reading ahead is out though.
Perhaps you could (pen and paper and a scan would do) do me the kesh jig in the tab format that you are thinking of. Might be easier to email it to me. jon at folkinfo.org.
