Gary McKinnon, wanted in the states for hacking into Pentagon computers, could at last be safe from US justice. British MPs tonight agreed to urge the UK government to review its extradition laws and renegotiate its unbalanced treaty with the US. The motion, put forward by a member of the ruling coalition, went through unapposed.

Even if nothing happens before the next stage in McKinnon's case, the courts will be obliged to take account of the expressed will of parliament. Looks like the boy is safe at last.
