I've a few acquaintances who collect guitars like some people collect stamps, and I think, "What's the point of having instruments that you can't possibly play regularly?" Of course I know that they collect them for the joy of ownership or as an investment or because they have the collecting fever, but what a shame that these lovely things stand idle.

I have 3 steel-strung acoustic guitars, 1 tenor guitar, 1 mandolin and 1 violin. All of these have been bought for a particular reason and all of them are played regularly. With the violin in particular, the instrument sings the longer it's played.

So, Sandy - give your other loves a little hug from time to time. :-)
