The name redneck came from bandanas they wore. Later other hard working folks like farmers who labored under the sun were also called rednecks.

I bet most of us occasionally cross the political aisle regarding the shows mentioned above... but the 700 Club? I think that polled too high probably out of a religious guilt trip like maybe Aunt Gertrude thought, "I should say I watch watch it the most..." But then again if people have invested heavily with donations they will want to see the results of their charity.

SPAw noted the Swamp people, men, loggers, etc shows. I never saw one about their womenz though. I'd watch Swamp Sluts!
It might be as interesting as Storage Wars which has a a strange and strong appeal to junk hunters, antique afficianados and hoarders alike. You see they open up an abbandoned storage unit and people bid on the contents with out being able to go inside or touch a thing... (caution may be habit forming)

Oh well if I even approach the actual language/humor commonly found in that slice of Americana, folks here would be so shocked as to write a strongly worded letter of complaint to their modertor, all cept spaw and Raparee that is.

Truth is most redneck offensive comments are designed to piss libs off and are not necessarily a statement of true belief, exactly like Newt does. The dangerous rednecks dress well and have their own group, website and own controling stock in private prisons.
