FAY HIELD ENGLISH TRADITIONAL SONG WORKSHOP Saturday 3rd. March 2012 10.45 a.m.- 4.45 p.m. Places £35 Royal Oak, Station Street, Lewes BN7 2DA
Fay is a fine young singer of English traditional song with a huge practical & scholarly understanding of it as well. She has performed & recorded with the Witches of Elswick, Damien Barber, Jon Boden, Fay Hield Trio & the Woodbine & Ivy Band, and has recently completed a PhD in English Folk Singing & the Construction of Community. She & Jon Boden run the Royal Traditions folk club, Dungworth, & help with Bright Phoebus events in Sheffield. Fay also recently organised the Soundpost Singing Weekend. The workshop will help singers to develop their own style to bring the best out of songs. Fay asks you to bring a text & tune for a song you are keen to work on and a portable recording device if possible; Fay will also bring a couple & it should be possible to share.
