Sam Sweeney leads an all-day workshop in Lewes and performs in the evening at the Lewes Saturday Folk Club with the Fay Hield Trio, Fay Hield (voice) and Rob Harbron(English concertina). Fay and Rob are also leading all-day workshops on English traditional song and all concertina systems. SAM SWEENEY ENGLISH FIDDLE WORKSHOP

            Sam is a dazzling young fiddler in the English traditional style who's been booked as a soloist at festivals from the age of 11. He founded his own band Kerfuffle. Currently he plays with Bellowhead, Jon Boden & The Remnant Kings, The Fay Hield Trio and in a duo with accordionist, singer & dancer Hannah James. He also plays viola, bagpipes & drums. He's an experienced & inspiring fiddle tutor.
             The workshop will cover learning some tunes and discovering how to search for exciting repertoire yourself, introducing and improving ornamentation and bowing technique, and how to free yourself from the simple notes of a tune, play 'less classically' and make a tune come alive.
            Some music will be sent out in advance.
