What a night!!! I knew we were in for something special when Pete and Aileen showed up. I was sitting there trying to figure out what to play, dead tired from the Getaway. I listened as they tuned and warmed up for the Carter Family stuff. They were excellent to say the least. Then Pete asked if I wanted him to back me on anything. If you heard his banjo work on The Foggy Dew, he learned that in about one run through. And what a very nice person.

The brew pub was very accomodating. And a lively crowd which always makes performing fun.

To say our Max is a talented blues player is understatement taken to its nth degree. He has excellent skills on his instrument, and great interpretive skills with the lyrics. And all this after cobbling up the damndest, Rube Goldberg looking set of devices I have ever seen.

Bert was his usual, funny as hell, and very talented self. I laughed my arse off everytime he started. Although he did sing one drinking song that I didn't think would ever end. And the folks that came with him knew every damn word........the man brings his own crowd with him. He was great.

I don't think I have to tell anyone here about Dick Greenhaus. But if you look closely you will see that sometime between him leaving the Getaway on Monday and getting to the Pub on Tuesday, he got in a fight with a hedgetrimmer and lost. His index finger on his picking hand was pretty tore up and had to be stitched. So he just picks minus a finger. And teaches me songs while we are waiting our turn to go on.

Joebro was having entirely too damn much fun. I think he might get used to this carousing, flirting with the women and singing in bars thing. And his deadpan renditions had us cracking up off camera.

I left the pub at about 12:35 AM after hugs all around and drove through the night. As I travelled the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Is there a straight, flat section of that damn road anywhere?) my head was filled with thoughts of this wonder we call the Mudcat Cafe. I had just spent another fantastic weekend at the Getaway, and topped it off with a most memorable evening in West Chester. And such wonderful friends that have been made along the way. All because I needed some lyrics...............
