A DeBeers diamond mine is on band land. The royalties, however, go to the province of Ontario.
This illustrates one of the problems with reserves in Ontario. Some band members are employed by the mine, but operations royalties on band land do not go to the band. The Federal Government cannot re-direct these monies.
