It was easier to find than I thought it would be. It was right where I looked the very first time. Now that is unusual!

The Chuck Wagon Gang is sort of like George Washington's axe, with all new parts added over the years. The original group of Rose, Anna, Jim, and Dad Carter (no relation to you know who) started in the 30s singing Cowboy music, hence the name. The gospel segments of their radio shows were so popular that they eventually turned to gospel music exclusively. The original quartet made their final recordings in 1953. After that, changes were periodically made until none of the original members were left.

I find the later versions of the Chuck Wagon Gang to have a good bit less "fire", but then, anyone who prefers their music has a right to that opinion. Albums by either group would be worth having, in my opinion.

The Real Audio version I have added to the bottom of the page is not perfect, but listenable. It comes from an album that I purchased in 1960 (the back cover says so) but I think the recordings were from some years earlier.

I am not real pleased with my transcription of the chorus. I'll ask Joe to fix it when he gets back home from globetrotting. He is a whole lot better than I am at such.
