Subject: Pilgrim of Sorrows
I am a poor pilgrim of sorrows
Cast out in this wide(old) world to roam
My brothers and sisters won't own me (don't know me)
They say that I'm weak and I'm worn (poor)
But Jesus, the Father Almighty
Has bade me to enter the door

Chorus;
Sometimes I'm tossed and driven,
Sometimes I don't know where to roam
(but)I've heard of a city called Heaven
And I've started to make it my home.

My mother's already in glory,
But my papa's still walkin' in sin
My brothers and sisters don't know me
Because I am tryin' to get in.

Chorus

When friends and relations forsake me,
And troubles grow round me so high
I think of the kind words of Jesus
"poor pilgrim I always am nigh"

Chorus

Oh soon I shall reach the bright glory,
Where mortals no more do complain
The ship that will take me is coming
The captain is calling my name

Chorus

Some lyrics adapted by Tim O'Brien on his "Remember Me" cd, some transcribed from a 1987 PHC performance by Jubilant Sikes.
