Thread Name: Just a Simple Soul
Subject: Just a Simple Soul
I'm just a simple soul I have no religion
But I can tell between right and wrong
Every year come December, when the snow falls so pretty
Keep thinking that I must try and get away
Get away from all this hard sell and Winter madness
You call Christmas
Don't think that I can take it anymore.
Why does the church of Jesus stand back in silence
Watching while big business uses his name
Didn't he drive the traders out from his temple, wasn't he angry
You can't buy your way in to God's mighty Heaven
But don't it make you feel better when you try and spend
Your little money
Go walk down the high street, they'll show you how.
On Christmas Day I'd rather be out a-walking
Walking down some quiet country lane
And hear red robin sing his sweet song in the cold frosty morning
A song for an old friend he sings adieu
And a song for a young heart that beats so clear
A song to bring you a quiet and peaceful New Year.
(Bert Jansch)
Remembering those we've lost this year and wishing all a peaceful holiday and new year.
