Whew! Moonglow and I were on our feet all afternoon and early evening making Puerto Rican meat pies called "empanadillas," and a pot of rice with pigeon peas called "arroz con gondules." Her Dad pulled up about 45 minutes before we finished and watched, occasionally sampling when I cut one up to taste (we made chicken and pork this year). Last I saw them, they were toting out a box with the pan of rice and a big plastic box filled with the empanadillas to cool then freeze for meals this winter. I'll watch a movie for a while, but if I get tired, they have keys to let themselves in. So much has changed from when they were little and we worked on making the holiday ritual "just so" for them. Now we're all grown-ups, and if we're tired, we go to bed! :)
