Subject: RE: Tech: New ipad - switch on - nothing happens??
I bought mine from an Apple store and they set it up for me there and then so it must have been ready charged as I saw the very helpful assistant unpack it new from the sealed box.
Got it home and couldn't connect to my WiFi but then realised I had to key in the Wireless key number which is a number on a sticky label under my wireless router (I'm with BT). Since then it's been great. I've even found a free Folk Radio app!!There are free lessons at most Apple stores which teach you the basics in groups of about 6 then you can return for another more advanced lesson later when you've had a play with it.You can book these lessons online at the Apple site. In UK if you want a 3G SIM card on a monthly basis they are £5 from the shop but I think you pay £10 if you renew online. I bought 2 cards and then put them in when I need them, only used two since August as I've managed most of the time to find WiFi. Happy iPadding I think they're great!
