Hi Glen. Could you tell us what the fee-charging site you mentioned is called? Out of curiosity. A Google search shows:

The problem with a voluntary listing site is that you're reliant on the accuracy and initial interest of the posters and, of course, the problem with a fee-paying site is that some people don't want to pay to advertise! The answer, IMO, is that you really have to have a certain pro-activeness with these listing sites - i.e. go out and harvest the information for yourself - for them to be successful. The flipside being that you have to keep a weather eye on it all the time.

I've just done a search on events in West Sussex - none. Mmm...
