I've actually been agonizing over recording for some time. I have been arranging hymns for guitar for the last ten years. I've lined up a studio with a very talented multi-instrumentalist up in MI who I think could really help add interest to the arrangements. Trouble is, I'm just not sure why I want to do it. At first it was just to get them down on tape for memory's sake. Then I had a few people who've heard me request recordings (you can never tell in those cases whether they're just being flattering). I don't have any kids to which I would hand down a recording for sentimentality. HearMe has been almost the totality of my performing "career" :>)!

Still, I love music and I really enjoy the challenge of putting new life in these greatly loved old hymns. The way the contemporary church is going these days these hymns are going to need to be saved and passed along much like our beloved folk stories and songs.

Incidentally, thanks for the memories. I had two college roommates, one from Johnstown PA and the other who constantly reminded him that he was from "Pennsyltucky". Hadn't heard anyone but me use that name for years until you did in another thread.
