John Szwed's 'The Man Who Recorded the World: A Biography of Alan Lomax'.

Fascinating and well-researched account of Lomax's life and recordings: a really interesting counterpoint to Shirley Collins' 'America Across The Water' of a few years ago. So good that I persevered with it despite the tiny tiny font in the paperback edition!
