Maybe it is the tendency to make eye (I) contact with strangers. This would of course be due to innate (and as yet un-jaded) trust which makes us attractive to people of peculiar dispositions.

I think that is what first attracted Richard Bridge. At a session I was very carefully watching his hands as he played mandolin wondering if since RA in wrists had halted playing guitar if perhaps I could play mando.
