I'm certainly confused. Presumably the legislators expect that this provision as written can withstand Supreme Court scrutiny. But it looks like a posthumous honor being bestowed on Osama by all citizens of this country. The President himself criticizes it, saying, undoubtedly with internal shame, that his Administration will be nice when using it, and he promises to ask Congressional permission to change things that seem really unfair in the future. How can he shame himself, and all of us, in this way? And here we are, with no legitimate Presidential contenders on the horizon, stuck voting for him again. Talk about a national malaise. . . .
