Thread Name: Faith Petric's hip surgery-January 2012
Subject: Faith petric's hip surgery
A friend passed this to me this AM:
Hello All,
I will get right to the point here and say that Faith is not in any danger, came through her hip surgery well, and is looking to make a full recovery. I will give a few more details below but first would just like to thank everyone who had been in touch to express their love and concern for Faith. Also thank you to Morgan and others who have helped to disseminate information about her condition while I was still dealing with the immediate situation.
So for those that who did not know, Faith had a fall on Sunday the 1st of January 2012 while attending the SFFMC annual New Year's music camp, Harmony, near Santa Rosa. She was taken to the Kaiser Santa Rosa Hospital and there diagnosed with a broken right hip and told it would need to be replaced. For those who didn't know or don't remember, Faith had the same thing happen with her left hip in March 2010 and recovered completely from that procedure, however she wasn't impressed about having to go through the whole thing again. She requested to be transferred to San Francisco and I rode with her in the ambulance down to the city on Sunday night. She had her operation around noon on Monday and, according to the surgeon, it went very well. Faith is now in the Kaiser Medical Centre here in San Francisco for the next few days before either being allowed to come home, where my partner Emmet and I can care for her, or to a rehabilitation facility for a short time first, depending on her progress over the next few days. Right now she is very sleepy and incoherent from the pain medication and may be that way for a few days yet. For this reason we are asking people not to call or visit the hospital yet. I will try to keep everyone updated as things progress but if you are concerned please either call the house or email Faith at this address and I will try to get back to you.
All the best,
Alex
