One thing - make sure that the resultant MP3 has a decent Kbps. Anything lower than 128Kbps will sound 'muddy'. I have found that 192kbps is just OK, with files of reasonable size. Anything at a higher rate will result in very large files. BTW I use Audacity too, with Lame MP3 encoder.
