Thread Name: Lyr Req: To Hear Doc Watson Play (Si Kahn)
Subject: ADD: To Hear Doc Watson Play (Si Kahn)
I missed the opportunity to hear Doc Watson in my area a few years ago because the tickets were almost $60. Ever since, I've been kicking myself for missing it. I guess I'll never get the chance to see hi. Here's my transcription of the whole song from Spotify, building on the transcriptions from Jim and Anne:

TO HEAR DOC WATSON PLAY
(Si Kahn)

1. I lost my mother when I was young, but I had Doc and Rosa Lee.
I'd cry along to that vinyl record when they sang "Your Long Journey."

CHORUS:
If I had a gold watch and chain, I would pawn them any day.
I'd walk across the Blue Ridge Mountains to hear Doc Watson play,
Just to hear Doc Watson play.

2. The harder falls the early frost, the brighter shine the autumn leaves.
The words of those we've loved and lost bring us comfort while we grieve.
CHORUS

3. When our singing time is past, and all our best is left behind,
The songs we loved will live and last, like thoughts of spring in the wintertime.
CHORUS

4. God's given us years of happiness here now we must part
And as the angels come and call for you
The pangs of grief tear at my heart
Oh my darlin' oh my darlin', my darlin'
My heart breaks as you take your long journey

(The fourth verse is from "Your Long Journey," by Doc Watson.
