Actually, I suspect a lot of the misspellings are emotionally based. It's not that they don't know how the words are spelled, but that they've allowed emotion to override intellect. Get someone sufficiently pissed off, hand him a piece of poster board and an El Marko, and he's apt to misspell his own name.
