Free Spirit St Patricks weekend Festival Glengarriff 2012

The Free Spirit St Patricks Festival is an annual free community music Festival. Based around Bernard Harrington's bar Glengarriff and other venues in this charming west cork village. This years event will Start with a 'warm up' open session at Bernard Harrington's Bar Glengarriff Starting 9.00 pm Wed 14th March , all musicians singers and audience most welcome, this is an inclusive festival and all styles of music, singing and dancing are welcomed and appreciated, come and join us to get things off to a flying start!
Thursday 15th of March takes a trip across the border into Kerry for a concert/session at the Top Of Coom starting 9.00pm The Highest Pub in Ireland. With Corks own John Buckley and friends. John Is a fabulous accordion player with a style all his own, great jigs, reels, slides and polka's. if you are local or visiting the area there is always a warm welcome at the Top of Coom.
Fri 16th March "The Survivors" 8.30-9.30pm West Cork Trad/Country band Great music and song from this accomplished and multi talented band come along and support them. Followed by Open Session, In the front Bar.
Sat 17th March 6.00-7.30 pm 'open mic' at the Maple leaf bar Glengarriff. (Please come early to book a spot!) 8.30pm CD Launch Henk Vosse will debut live tracks from his solo album 'I WILL RETURN' based in the folk/blues tradition Henk is a consummate musician and entertainer. A great friend to the festival and although he lives in the Netherlands he is at heart a citizen of Glengarriff. Followed by an open session/St Patricks day party in the bar to include a belly dancing demonstration from Niza Queen of the Arabian Dessert! Come along and be amazed!!
Sunday 18th March starting 2.00pm Bernard Harrington's cordon bleu barbeque with cooking by Judy and Ed. Young musicians/singers and dancers showcase concert. Lunchtime concert outside if weather permits or inside if inclement ! Mime from the one and only Peter (The Great) Scharma. Hollands premier mime artist/singer/musician.                4.00pm With Story and song from Steve Roche and John Burke. Tall tales, songs and recitations from 2 of Kanturk's favourite entertainers. Followed by a break for refreshments. 6.00 pm Survivors Session. Maple Leaf Bar .                                                                                          The Festival is a free community event, organised by John & Marie Corteen. All musicians and entertainers give of their time for no payment. The idea is to get together, make music and have fun.
