Forgot to say - I've been there recently and it's rather good!

My mother's father sailed on the HMHS (His Majesty's Hospital Ship) Britannic - the other sister ship to the Titanic. He was born in 1870 and joined the RAMC (Royal Army Medical Corps) in 1914. The Britannic was destined to be another liner but, at the outbreak of war, made her maiden voyage to Mudros in the Aegean as a hospital ship. She made about 6 journeys between Liverpool and Mudros - and then hit a mine in the Aegean and sank... My grandfather was in North Africa by then.
