Chongo seems to thrive on having enemies. I believe it strengthens his own sense of identity. Come to think of it, that's true of a great many people, isn't it?
Sun Tzu said "by opposing an enemy one gives him strength". This can be observed again and again in politics, specially international politics.
The Taoist approach to life is to have no enemies. One does have challenges, certainly, but they are inner ones...that is, the things you have to overcome are within yourself...things like laziness, fear, a closed heart, jealousy, anger, greed, inattention, basically it's almost all fear in some form or another.
Chongo is no Taoist, he believes strongly in having outer enemies, but he's also pretty good at dealing with many of the inner challenges and mastering his own fear. Altogether an interesting character! Had he had the good fortune to find a truly enlightened instructor in his youth, he might have become a fully-fledged Taoist Chimp.
