Sonnet 25/11/00                                    CDLXXXVIII

How can I repay that which muse inspires?
I do not know the answer, but I fear
I might give soul that I might stop a tear.
How might I say that which my heart desires?
And what words might I write, to ask reply,
And would my muse give me a future dream
That heart might rest, and future hope redeem?
To muse, I cannot truth of words deny.
I ask the price that my muse might demand
To lend vision to dream: What is the cost
For giving back to my dreams what was lost?
How can I help but stand with heart in hand?
You offer hope: Far more than just a dream,
You send my thoughts upon a different stream.
